What does a trade test actually involve?
The candidate performs tasks taken from your job description, assessed by someone who knows the trade, against criteria agreed with you. For welders that may be a test coupon to a specified procedure; for a carpenter, shuttering set to a tolerance; for an operator, a machine cycle under observation.
Can our engineer watch the test?
Yes. Employers test candidates at our premises in person, or watch on video while our team runs the test. Several clients fly in for selection and run the whole shortlist in a day.
What if a worker still underperforms on site?
Tell us quickly and specifically — which task, which standard. If the test missed something, we change the test. Replacement is governed by the terms agreed in writing before deployment.
Do you test unskilled and helper categories too?
They are assessed differently: fitness, understanding of instructions, previous site experience and references. We do not pretend a helper has been trade tested, because that claim would not survive first contact with the work.
